    August 21st, 1.30pm – 6.30pm at Watermans Gallery.

To start our season of workshops and events, we invite all women artists, techies and tinkerers to come and geekOut.

Bring your projects, ideas, or come and practice projects from our previous workshops. We will have computers, projector, previous workshop pdf’s, and some tools and components available to borrow, but if you have something in mind to work on, please bring tools and components you know you will need, if you can.

This will not be a tutored event, but an opportunity to play, learn and practice anything that takes your fancy, and to catch up on the SolarBots, Electronics for Absolute Beginners and Arduinorama workshops.

If you have any kit from previous workshops, bring it along!

  2. Next Peer to Peer: Arduinorama

NB:  If you would like to attend, please RSVP by email.

Kit: If you have your own Arduino starter kit, or Arduino and sensors, bring them so you can follow along with your own tools.  You can buy them online in advance if you don’t have them.

Or, if you’re simply interested in the tech, you’re welcome to look on!

We recommend buying one in advance if you want to be able to take home what you’ve made and use it in your own projects, and in our upcoming workshops.

  3. Next P2P workshop – Photoshop

    Calling women MzTEKers and techies!

    Photoshop Workshop

The next Peer2 Peer workshop is going to be a  Photoshop workshop lead by Laura.

    date for your diary… 14th MAY from 7pm – 9pm

Laura is keen to know what you want to know (photoshop for web? photoshop for photographers?), and what level you would like the workshop to be aimed at (beginners intro or advanced skills and techniques?). Please RSVP with thoughts and requirements to info@mztek.org or leave a comment on this post.

Although this will be mainly a photoshop workshop (a useful tool as it is the media industry standard), Laura will also take some time to introduce in brief some of the Open Source tools available for image processing, such as
    Inkscape (for vectors)
If your are interested we will arrange another geek-out with pizza session to explore these tools in more depth.

the workshop will take place at SPACE media in Hackney
    129 – 131 Mare St
    E8 3RH

    14th May  7pm – 9pm

  5. Experiments in interactive video

In this workshop we will make some funky visuals using live camera feed, pre-recorded video clips (feel free to bring your own… but make them small) and jpegs, (so bring some of those too). We will use sound and movement to trigger and manipulate visuals.

This workshop will involve some techy bits, like using a visual programming language, and it will also involve a bit of a boogie! Mary Clay is going to run a dance workshop for part of the session, and then we will combine the lot!

Don’t feel you need to bring a laptop if that will stop you coming along, (although if you can do) you can still join in with all aspects, as we will have to take turns in using the projector anyway… unless you can bring one of those too.

This workshop will be an introduction to the software Isadora. This is really easy to use software for building patches, or programs, and
the basic idea behind it can be translated to other software such as PureData, Eyes web and MaxMSP.
